Sound of Forms exhibition and residency at the Republic Gallery, 15-27 September
Republic Gallery, 15.09 - 27.09
Private View 15
September 19.00-21.00
The exhibition comprises of ‘Poetry
Drawings’ - an on-going series of works on paper, translucent cotton, silk,
plastic, stones, and revitalised books. This cycle reflects on the written word
as symbol, which is also live graphic score to be spoken, sung, uttered by
artist or audience.
In the installation at the Republic
Gallery objects step out into the space, creating a labyrinthine space, with
larger translucent screens suspended and smaller artworks occupying surfaces
and meander throughout the space, forming a landscape.
The show is formed of older works,
primarily those ones created during the residency at the Crypt Gallery, and new
works which are inspired by the location of the gallery, the history and the
landscape of East India Docks. Visual poetry finds voice through a series of
recordings and a set of performances taking place during the show.
