Performance by Atta-Anatta at Being Silence Residency at the Crypt Gallery

During the Being Silence art residency as part of research on silence, sound and time, a new project Atta-Anatta emerged. Atta-Anatta is a collaborative sound and visual art project exploring musical spaces through sound, voice and poetry. The duo was formed in March 2016 by Evgenia Emets and Nao Masuda who come from different backgrounds and disciplines yet share similar experience, vision and desire in exploring and transcending the boundaries of artforms.

Predominantly using traditional and folk instruments including Nepalese/Tibetan singing bowls, Indian bells, Japanese taiko drums along with their own voices, they explore and express their insights and journey through sound, poetry and visual art.

On the 9th April 2016 Evgenia Emets and Nao Masuda performed a new piece from an art sound project Atta-Anatta. The piece has been inspired by the two performers exploring and playing with sound, resonance, vibrations which they regard as elements that affect our perception of boundary, colour, space, time, form, possibly taste. At the Crypt Gallery the pair was tuning into its unique space, architecture and aural qualities, to unfold a journey guided by sounds that reverberate through everything and everybody that happened to be in the space.
